Volunteer opportunities for POC in Bergen County NJ

Bergen County CASA has volunteer opportunities for adults who identify as POC and/or LGBTQ+ adults in Bergen County. Our volunteer child Advocates are invaluable role models for our foster children who come from towns in Northern New Jersey including Hackensack, Lodi, Garfield, and beyond.

If you are male, female, POC or LGBTQ+ and are considering joining Bergen County CASA, there are several ways to volunteer for the organization and support our mission of foster child advocacy. You can train to become an Advocate or support the organization by fundraising or helping with administration.

Volunteer opportunities for POC in Bergen County NJ

Bergen County CASA has volunteer opportunities for POC in Bergen County NJ.  Our foster children are diverse. Because of this we are prioritizing recruiting POC to be Advocates.

One can never underestimate the impact of culture upon the work we do. Cultural Sensitivity is a focus of Bergen CASA during our pre-service training. However, we are also focused on recruiting Advocates who more closely represent the cultures of the children we serve.

Bergen CASA is committed to diversify our volunteers and staff.  This is important because we need many voices from different cultures and backgrounds informing the work we do in our community.  Please know that if you are a person of color that you can bring valuable cultural understanding and life experience to our program. Additionally, we are actively seeking people from the LGBTQIA+ community too as there are LGBTQIA+ children disproportionately in foster care too.
