Today, six dedicated Advocates from Teaneck are supporting youth in foster care, backed by generous local partners like the AUCC Gym and community center. One especially meaningful example: a foster youth recently received a paid internship at the community food pantry — gaining not just work experience, but confidence, purpose, and a sense of belonging.
For teens in foster care, particularly those nearing adulthood, opportunities like this can be life-changing. Having someone believe in them — and give them responsibility — can shift how they see their future.
That’s where Advocates come in. They stand beside youth during critical moments, helping them navigate challenges and plan for what comes next. And the impact lasts far beyond the foster care system.
