Black volunteer opportunities near me
CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Bergen County is a non-profit organization that supports and promotes court-appointed volunteer advocacy for children in the foster system. If you are looking for black volunteer opportunities near you, we need diverse, qualified, responsible adults to work with our foster children.
We know that children of color are disproportionately represented in the foster care system. Finding black and Hispanic volunteers to represent and advocate for these children is an important focus for Bergen County CASA.
Many volunteers become a Court Appointed Special Advocate while others help behind the scenes in administrative and other support capacities. Email Info@BergenCasa.org to learn more or click the button below to get started on becoming a CASA Child Advocate.

Bergen County CASA needs Black Advocates for our foster children and for their families. In addition, we seek to diversify our Board of Trustees and fundraising committees. Please consider learning more about Bergen CASA if you are Black and looking for a volunteer opportunity near you.
Bergen CASA recruits, screens and trains volunteers to advocate for children in foster care. They commit to stay on their appointed child’s case for a minimum of 2 years so that the child has someone constant they learn they can rely upon. CASA speaks to everyone involved in their appointed child’s life including school personnel, doctors, therapists, foster parents and biological parents.
Every time the child’s case is reviewed in family court the Advocate provides the Judge with a researched report about every aspect of the foster child’s life with recommendations about the best permanent solution for the child as well as services that the child may need.
We are also actively seeking to recruit male volunteers as well as people who identify as LGBTQIA+. The closer we represent the people we work with the better we will serve them.
