The Bergen CASA Bulletin: 2nd Half 2022

Bergen CASA’s impact in 2022

This year continues to be auspicious as all Bergen County’s foster children (eligible for a CASA) had an Advocate by their side.  To date, our 94 Advocates have helped 132 children! With support from wonderful local non-for-profits and our partnership with the Division of Child Protection and Permanency (DCP&P), we dramatically expanded the services and support funneled to needy children in Bergen county.  For example, providing clothing, mattresses and bedding, art, and dance classes, sports and summer camps for our foster kids.

We know the DCP&P case workers are on the front lines and welcome the smallest gestures of support: A blanket for a family living without heat or a gift card for a mother moved into a hotel to protect her and her 3 children from domestic violence. These gestures make all the difference, while the families are being connected with social services.

This fall, working with the Northern NJ Jewish Federation, the Never Give Up Foundation, and All Saints Episcopal Church of Glen Rock, we distributed over 400 fully stocked backpacks.  In collaboration with Flames of Giving, we ensured that baby essentials such as diapers, formula, and clothing were provided to 40 needy families including many single mothers, and our foster children.

We are gearing up for a joint holiday toy drive not only for our foster children but also all for the children under the auspices of DCP&P.  We will be collaborating with every local company and non for profit who are willing to help us make this happen!
